COMPATIBILITY
These programs are written for TriBBS 10.0. They WILL NOT work with
earlier versions of TriBBS. They have been tested with the lastest
beta of TriBBS 10.0.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONFIGURATION FILE
The configuration file is a very important component of this
package. Please read the following description of it carefully.
Lines 1 through 5 are for the programs that run as doors. This
requires that the first five lines of the configuration file contain
the following parameters, blank lines are NOT allowed. Blank lines
before line 6 in the file will cause the programs that run as doors
to not run correctly, or not at all.
Line 1: Door data file type.
Line 2: Path to the door data file(s).
Line 3: BBS name.
Line 4: Sysop's name.
Line 5: Locked baud rate.
- 3 -
As illustrated above, the door data file type is specified in
line 1 and can be one of the following values:
PCB for PCBoard
GAP for GAP (DOOR.SYS)
SF for Spitfire
RBBS for RBBS
WC for WildCat!
TRIBBS for TriBBS
WWIV for WWIV
Line 2 is the directory where the drop files are located. Line 3
should be your BBS name as it appears in your drop files. Line 4
should be the Sysop's name as it appears in the drop files. The
locked baud rate is specified in line 5. If you don't lock your
serial port, you must specify 0 for the locked baud rate.
- 4 -
NOTE: Although many door formats do pass the locked baud rate in the
door data files, some older formats such as RBBS do not. For
conformity, the library used to write the door requires that you
specify the locked baud rate in line 5 and ignores any value
passed in the door data files.
The following is a sample door configuration file:
TRIBBS
C:\TRIBBS\

RESPONSEFILE=C:\TRIBBS\MWORK\Q1.ANS
RESPONSEFILE is the questionaire response file you wish ANS2MSG
to check to see if the caller answered while they were online. You
must include the path in this parameter.
A2MCONF=1
A2MCONF is the conference you wish ANS2MSG to post the questionaire
answers to.
NODE=1
NODE is the node this configuration file applies to, you should
have a different configuration file for each node you have. This
parameter applies to ALL utilities in this package.
- 6 -
NODE1MAINDIRECTORY=C:\TRIBBS
NODE1MAINDIRECTORY is where you specify the path to TriBBSs node 1.
This parameter is used my ALL utilities in this package.
SCNOTIFY=YES
SCNOTIFY is used by the SC security checker. Valid values are
YES and NO, if you specify YES the program will notify you in a
message conference when a user fails the security check.
SCCONF=5
SCCONF is the conference you want the security checker to post the
message notifing you of a failed security check.
- 7 -
SCPERCENTAGE=100
SCPERCENTAGE is the percentage of the time you want the SC program
to check callers. Valid values are 1 to 100.
SCIGNORESECLEVEL=9999
SCIGNORESECLEVEL is the security level at which the SC program stops
screening callers. If a callers security level is equal to or
higher than SCIGNORESECLEVEL they will not be screen no matter what
the percentage is set at.
BDGFILE=GREET.BBS
BDGFILE is the file you wish the BDG program to use as the display
to the user enjoying a birthday.
- 8 -
CLISTFILE=C:\TRIBBS\DISPLAY\BULLET4.BBS
CLISTFILE is the name of the bulletin you wish the CLIST program to
create as a listing of the last 10 callers.
CLISTMAXCALLERS=10
CLISTMAXCALLERS is the maximum number of callers you want in the
list the CLIST program generates. The default is 10 for the
registered version of the program. If you are using the unregistered
version the maximum number is 5.
REGNUM=0
REGNUM is YOUR registration number.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 9 -
ANS2MSG
ANS2MSG is a utility that can post a questionaires response file
to a specified message conference. It takes the pain out of searching
through the response file manually, since the users response is auto-
matically posted in a message to the sysop. You should run ANS2MSG
in your BETWEEN.BAT.
Command Line:
ANS2MSG config_file
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 10 -
BDG
BDG is a door program that will display an @X-color coded file to
a user if it's his/her birthday, at logon. The program also recognizes
the "@FIRST@" at-code too, so you can include the users first name in
the display for a more personal touch. The program will display the
greet each time the person logs on that day. You should run BDG from
your LOGON.BAT file.
Command Line:
BDG config_file [NonStandardIRQ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 11 -
CLIST
CLIST will generate an @X-color coded bulletin containing the last
10 callers. Until you register it will only display the last 5 callers.
It gets all the caller info from your CALLERS.LOG. CLIST creates a file,
CLIST.DAT, in the directory the executable is located in. This file
contains the info for the callers that the program uses to generate the
bulletin. If you wish to exclude a user from being listed by CLIST,
CLIST looks for a file name EXEMPT.LST in the same directory the
executable is in. Simply fire up your favorite editor and add the user's
name to the file, make sure you save it as an ASCII file. You should run
CLIST from your BETWEEN.BAT. If you change your CLISTMAXCALLERS number in
you config file, the program will reset the data file.
Command Line:
CLIST config_file
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 12 -
FLISTER
FLISTER will generate a formatted text file containing a file list
from the specified file area, or "ALL".
Command Line:
FLISTER config_file file_area
Specify "ALL" as the "file_area" argument if you wish FLISTER to generate
a complete listing for all your file areas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 13 -
FSIZER
FSIZER is a utility that fixes files in a file list that have
an incorrect file size in the FILES.LST file. If you run a utility
to generate a master file list you know what this utility if for.
Command Line:
FSIZER config_file file_area
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 14 -
PEDIT
PEDIT is a utility which allows you to edit a specified users
message pointers. From time to time a users message pointers will
become corrupt, when this happens usually using the builtin TriBBS
packers will work, but sometimes they don't. When the built-in packers
don't correct the corrupt message pointers this utility will allow you
to do it by hand.
Command Line:
PEDIT config_file "User Name"
IMPORTANT: Remember to enclose the user name in quotes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 15 -
TMU
TMU is a utility program that fixes messages in any TriBBS message
conference that are over TriBBS's 72 character limit. Messages with
lines of text greater than 72 characters cause problems when quoting
from within the TriBBS editor. TMU reformats these messages to fix
this problem. TMU will wrap the text accordingly if it's a quoted
message or not, as long a the quote character is the '>'. I wrote this
program because locally the system that all the sysops pull our local
net from is an Amiga and when TriBBS imports the messages from the net
it wraps the text incorrectly, making quoting annoying because the quote
display looks like this:
1: text that is too long for TriBBS to wrap
correctly.
2: See what I mean?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 16 -
TMU
Command Line:
TMU config_file conf_number
Where "config_file" is the name of your configuration file, which is
covered in detail in on pages 2-8 of this file, and "conf_num" is which
message conference you want to run the program on.
It's a good idea, if you have networked conferences to run TMU after you
have imported messages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 17 -
TMU
RESTORING BACKUPS
TMU creates backups of the conferences ".TXT" and ".HDR" files which
will have the extensions ".BXT" and ".BDR" respectively. If you need
to restore a conference from a backup simply copy the Mxxxx.BXT over
the existing Mxxxx.TXT file and copy the Mxxxx.BDR over the Mxxxx.HDR,
where "xxxx" refers to the conference number. If previous backups
already exist in your MWORK directory created by TMU the program will
overwrite them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 18 -
TTM
TTM is a dual-purpose program, it allows you to post a text file
to a message. It also can be used as a new user greeter in your
NEWUSER.BAT file.
Command Line for Sending a Text file:
TTM config_file conf "User Name" "Subject" Private text_file
Remember to enclose the User name and Subject in quotes. Valid values
for the "Private" argument are Y and N.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 19 -
TTM
USING TTM AS A NEW USER GREETER
TTM can be used to send a special text file to a new user when they
log on by running it in your NEWUSER.BAT
TTM config_file conf "WHOSONxxxx" "Subject" Private text_file
Specify the "WHOSONxxxx" parameter by specifing the node number like so:
TTM cfg.cfg 1 "WHOSON1" "Welcome!" N C:\TRIBBS\NEWUSER.TXT
This will send the NEWUSER.TXT file to the user on Node 1, so when they
get to the "Waiting messages" screen they will have a nice greeting from
you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- 20 -
SC
SC will screen callers, asking for their birthdate and phone number
for verification when they log on. If they fail the security check SC
will optionally sent you a note letting you know who failed the security
check and HANGUP on the caller if they fail.
Command Line:
SC config_file [NonStandardIRQ]
Only specify a Non-standard IRQ if you are using one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
